Trading Technology - Technology room design

We have substantial experience in designing, implementing, auditing and testing Technology rooms from the concrete floor slab to the ceiling slab. We have dealt with raised floors, air conditioning, cooling and air flow, floor weight loading.

We have undertaken Cabinet layout and design, racking design, intercabinet cabling, cable routing, power issues, access control and access safety assessment, server deployment, network configuration, PBX, Voice systems, safety issues, fire detection and management systems, remote power and server management, documentation.

This design and project management work has been undertaken in a wide variety of geographic locations in many different types of building. We have worked on "green field" projects and also on refurbishment or expansion of existing operational sites. We have planned the layout of equipment cabinet and and technology rack footprints in terms of heat output, support access, maintenance flexibility and security.

We advise on the security of the room. We help to select a suitable access control system and the provision of security cameras. Other services can include design for technology visitor areas, safe evacuation routes, security turnstiles, strengthening of technology walls, identification of security risks, enhanced fire resistance in walls and doors and positioning of fire safes. We have also designed for secure processing of precious documents. We design for access by disabled personnel.

We test the rooms prior to release to operational staff, evaluating such issues as pressure testing, dust testing, air quality testing, water leak inspection, data cabling inspection for copper and fibre installation, quality inspaction of server deployment, asset register review. In conjunction with the client we supervise power testing and air conditioning testing.

We offer safety inspection of the technology room and the equipment installed in the cabinets, though actual electrical testing is left to skilled electrical engineers. We also undertake operational risk assessments for such risks as overhead piping, sprinklers, flooding from other areas and Compliance with the Corporate security rules.
