Trading Technology - Floor Design and Trading Desk design

The successful operation of a trading floor depends in part on good design and careful layout. A good design will facilitate changes to the Infrastructure as the trading business changes to match market demands. Our practitioners have designed several trading floors. We have coordinated the floor layout for desk positions with the business directors and helped them to select good trading desk designs.

We've assessed the work station ergonomics, choice of trading and office chairs, line of sight issues, evaluated noise nuisance issues, personnel walk routes and storage facilities. These design considerations have been coordinated with the technical design issue relating to structured cabling, power cabling and heat control issues.

We advise clients on the choice of flooring such as raised floor tiles, carpet surfaces, provision of under floor services such as data cabling routes, power cabling and water pipe routes.

We have assisted clients in the selection of Trading Desks. Factors include: ease of access, security, strength of construction and durability, flexibility for future change, safety, desk top layout, location of PC's and laptops, monitor support arms, screen support panels, desk top power facilities.

We have designed meeting rooms and board rooms close to trading floors. These have good quality video conference and audio visual presentation facilities supported by specialist technology.

Coupled with the trading floor planning is the rollout of desk top PC's as part of new trading floors or as a migration process. We have defined methodologies for creating and maintaining desk/position databases used in the coordination of services to be deployed to individual desks. These databases are then used for formal Service support methodologies such as ITIL.

We have used the same skills for the implementation of Call Centres.
