A good cabling system is essential to the reliable operation of trading floor technology. Modern technology is placing increasing demands on the bandwidth of the cabling. A well designed patching system and good documentation is essential to facilitate moves and changes.

Our practitioners have experience of working with cabling contractors and Network Technicians to carefully design structured cable systems that have a warranted lifetime in excess of 20 years. We design to international standards working with Cat 5E and Cat 6 UTP systems and Fibre Optic cables as well as the older co-axial and serial signal cabling. We undertake careful research with clients to design cabling structures to meet future business needs. Where necessary we will deal with legacy cabling and will plan migrations to new cabling systems.

We carefully plan cable routes to match the technical limitations of the technology and to provide best mapping to the business needs. We help to plan the supporting cable trays and cable pathway ducts in sub-floor, overhead and in building risers. We check the planned routes to avoid conflicts with other building services such as water pipes and power cabling. Issues such as electrical interference, heat and fire safety are included in the planning. In planning the routes we always take account of future support and maintenance issues.

We can act to oversee the deployment of cabling and provide quality assessments of the work undertaken. Careless installation techniques can create long term damage to the capability of data transmission. We work with the cabling contractors to ensure suitable deployment, testing and documentation methods. We help to synchronise the cabling deployment schedule with other construction works. In a complex refurbishment project this can be a critical task requiring careful attention to detail.
