Cost Control - Vendor ManagementA couple of basic rules: "Vendors will charge the maximum what they can get away with." "You should pay vendors enough so that they stay in business." There may be introductory offers which initially lower costs, but if you do not push your suppliers it is almost certain that you are not getting the best deal for your company. Competition between suppliers is important. We can show your team how to monitor vendor performance in terms of price and delivery. It is no good having the lowest price if the goods are not delivered reliably. Part of the process is to develop good account managers within your suppliers, we can assess and train your staff in those skills and show them procedures which we have used effectively in the past. When the service received from a vendor/supplier is poor we can show you how to investigate the reasons, how to measure the service and then how to deal with vendors that fail to deliver. If done properly you do not necessarily have to break the relationship. We can show you how to attract and control and train new vendors. If necessary we can act as an intermediary to set up a robust and workable relationship between your vendor and the business. |
