BCM Process Implementation

Organisation and planning is a key part of the implementation of the Business Continuity plans. Usually a central project team will coordinate the actions of business units, provide advice and prevent the duplication of effort. Oaksys Tech practitioners have previously managed this process on a mutlinational basis. We can assist in Quality Assurance to confirm that the business units have completed their actions and will certificate such work if appropriate.

Standby arrangements normally form part of a BCM plan, providing an alternative location from which key parts of the business can operate when denied access to the primary offices. There are many possible scenarios, sometimes involving 3rd party BCM suppliers, alternative offices (branches) in nearby countries, mutual support arrangements with competitors or even home based working. We can help advise on the logistics to achieve a satisfactory result. Careful consideration will need to given to the impact of a regional disaster such as a hurricane or Government actions such exclusion zones as a result of terrorist activity.

The technology department will have disaster recovery facilities. We can review those or advise on further measures. We can examine the data storage strategy and advise on its effectiveness in relation to disaster recovery. We can advise on how to set up disaster equipment caches and the design of standby facilities. We have practical experience of successfully dealing with the problems arising during the recover from disasters including fires, flooding, hurricane, major equipment theft, computer virus/worms, terrorist bombs, regional power failure. Our practitioners were even involved in Contingency and BCM planning for branch offices affected by the Gulf War.

We can identify risk in the business and advise on methods of reduction of those areas of risk.

We have practical experience of running BCM testing and effectiveness evaluation programmes. We can advise on training programmes for staff to understand their part in the BCM process. We can on request run a certifaction programme for key personnel.
